Here's the error in Event Viewer when attempting to open normally:įaulting application name: PBIDesktop.exe, version. Event ID 18 shows that an update has been downloaded and is pending installation. I'm using Symantec Endpoint Protection which is required/installed/admined by my IT Dept. Tried running sfc.exe /scannow from an elevated command prompt. I tried running as Admin but it doesn't help - though the error changes which seems odd. Nothing happens when clicking the PBI icon.

If I had to guess, it looks to be yet another tangled mess related to the Windows Store, which since Windows 8 came out has been a source of 1) hilarious, 2) nonsensical, and 3. Quicken purchased programs have online services licenses that are good for only 3 years and support for Quicken 2016. I noticed these two in my Event Viewer logs too, since that Cumulative Update appeared.

If you haven't already set up a account you need to do that first and then use your login information.

I've searched the forums/Google but can't find anything that helps. I tried to use the 32-bit version but my data model is too big for it to open. I'm using the lastet Power BI Desktop 64-bit version. Starting a couple of weeks ago, after opening PBI a couple of times it suddenly stops being able to open.
